This is the response i would expect from a spoilt child in retaliation. I had already posted (had you read it correctly) that you can offer serious crit's without being rude.
To say you are not being rude and yet three established and respected existing members have taken umbrage over your comments would say otherwise sir and I suggest you rethink your standpoint on how you speak to people in general.
Offering comments on anyones work is always a delicate matter. We have discussed this to some depth before your arrival to this forum. It is viewed by myself and many others here on Phototopix that newcomers to the site, and to photography in general, can be be put off and indeed feel hurt and insulted by over harsh and non encouraging crits. So, to encourage and not discourage seems to be the unwritten rule here. TO ENCOURAGE AND NOT DISCOURAGE. This does not mean we are not being honest and open...far from it. Many of us utilise the 'softly softly' approach to encourage the individual that they could do better, even though they have still done a fine job according to their relevant experience. Also, talking as a someone who makes money from his photography, I would never dream of 'flaming' or illustrating any kind of 'holier than thou' comments or attitude for fear of upsetting and potentially putting an individual off of this wonderful medium.
The forum is full of varying degrees of ability. There is no right and wrong or have you forgotten that ? Its subjective remember? Although there exists a huge variety of formulae for what makes a successful image it is still subjective.
This is not like many of the other forums. It is run by people who care about photography and care about people. It is a genuine place where people want to help each other in a friendly and enthusiastic manner. This place is full of everything. Friendly banter; new techniques discussed and explored ( we have an excellent infrared enthusiast and many HDR lovers) some posts though not technically perfect, hold so much emotional impact that technical content is rendered redundant. There are a handful of seasoned and full time pro's here.
At the end of the day we wish to help each other progress and improve in a friendly, encouraging way and keep the place amiable and happy. This place is like a family, a collective of like minded friends.
Sorry about the off topic post guys. If you wish to continue this further then PM me instead of posting here. Alternatively open a new post in the forum chat.
The bottom line is buddy, you came across brash and a bit rude. If you can't see that then look again.
Best wishes. I hope you stick around and see what a great place this is.
Tco

Hey Trevor
my only attempt at birds was puffins for which i went to skomer island. bit hard not to get good shots to be honest. out in the open i wouldnt have a clue where to go or how to start..
to get this close to a bird is fantastic! i think you already hit the nail on the head before anyone else did. the crop. the wire can be digitally removed. Pm Tawny on here as she is prob several lightyears above everyone with regard to wildlife shot (apologies to anyone else who is good but she does stand out!) for some good advice on wildlife stuff. her post production is also very good so even if the shot itself isnt the best, she can help get the best from it..
I stand with the others on regarding an earlier post. yes it was a bit harsh..alright quite alot harsh then TC-oh.. Like TCo says, stick around, take it on the chin and join in and network..

Thanks Andy, We have thick skin up here in Yorkshire, comments always welcome, but not rude ones, I shelved the reply I was going to send to Anthony after some thought, I didn't want to stoop to his level.
