Default Beauty in Nature

Photographers Comments
Taken at Leeds Castle on Saturday. Am still currently exploring composition when out and about to try and improve in my capture of shots. All comments and critique welcome, its how we all learn. Thanks.

Hi Lorraine, composition is good and choosing portrait has worked well with the stream and trees. I like the way that the stream takes you into the image. If you can return there later in the spring when there will be some more colorful flowers in the foreground this would make a really nice image.

Hi Loopy,

I love the zig zag composition which leads your eye to the bridge. As Barry said this works well in portrait and you have framed the shot well with the trees either side.x

Hi guys, thanks for the positive comments, glad you like it, really trying hard with composition. The ticket I got Saturday entitles me to enter as many times as I like over the next year, so am really looking forward to seeing the Castle through the changing seasons

So why don't you pick a particular view, and take the same picture in spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Hi Lorraine, I really like the composition here, however for me I think you could have framed slightly higher and got more from the tops of the trees and used the base of the stream and wall to form part of an "arrow head" shape to lead the eye into the image.

Hi Phil, thanks for the "arrow head" idea, that works really well. With regards to getting the tops of trees in, the day was pretty bland and grey. I had taken a couple of shots with the tops of the trees in the frame, but lost the detail/colouring as the sky bleached and it distracted from the main view. Hopefully as i've plenty of opportunity to go back, i can take this on board, have better weather/sky days and make more of the shot I've not quite worked out how to overcome a rather bleached sky day yet?
