This ones just for interest really, as it always amazes me! This is a banana flower opening up and exposing the fruits to come. It will be a good couple of months before they are ready to eat.

huh!....I really like this close up...shows everything. Are you saying that this will become bananas??........all I can get my bushes to grow is icicles

Nice close up.. We have one or two in our neighborhood and the bananas are way on top of the stem...above the flower..

Hi Diane. . I am hoping that this is close by to you so you can take progressive photos .. to show us. It's a neat imagine .. I have never seen anything like it .. I have seen them growing but never had seen a flower... Thanks for sharing ..

Hi there, thanks for all your comments.....yep this is where bananas come from Fay and the tree is in my garden. If you look at the big petal on the RHS you can see the bananas forming. These petals fall off and reveal another row of bananas, eventually you are left with the bananas on top of a long stem with the flower at the bottom....as Carol said.

Already this morning more petals have dropped exposing more baby bananas and I will do as Else said and take progessive shots and post them along the way.
