Lol, nice snap of this heron, our local herons seem really wary of anyone with a camera, and normally vanish long before I get anywhere near them. You could probably get away with bumping up the exposure value a little on this to make the snow a little more white and not as grey as it looks on here. From a compositional point of view, the normal "rule" is for the bird to have more space in front of the beak, so it may have worked to have put the bird a little more over to the left in the frame. Just an idea...

Thanks for your comments Miles, all the herons are the same you have to creep up slowly and keep hidden, this was about 30ft away when i took this one and only got one go at it as it was disturbed, the next one i got it was flying away
