Recently revisited this location to get some more shots of the old boats that seem to be rotting away. Click to toggle zoom ![]() |

Funny uou should say that about cropping it as I have been advised to crop several of my pictures lately. I will give it a go. Thanks for looking. Steve |

I can only apologise
I appear to have fallen into the Phototopix Twilight zone of 'cropping' everything within an inch of its life! I've even got carried away and re-done it in b&w for you to compare. Click to toggle zoom ![]() I need to go and lie down in a darkened room......as I've now joined the dark side!

No need to apologise its all part of the learning process, you are right the crop works a treat. I like the B&W conversion too. Thanks again

I have to say I prefer your original. I think the cropped version loses some drama. You lose that swirling circular motion of the sky and the jetty to the left no longer leads you down into the picture. The B&W doesn't work for me either, there isn't enough contrast in the shot, too much detail is lost, and that wonderful highlighted grass along the bottom isn't as strong.
The shot looks a little grainy/noisy, was it supposed to be like that? On the whole I really like it. Regards |

I have to agree with Darren, I prefer your original one, with that fantastic sky and the lit up grass in foreground, I may had been tempted to try and bring a bit more detail out in those boats to try and make them stand out a bit more, but still a nice image.

Thanks for your comments guys much appreciated. Len, the spot this was taken is between Greenhithe and Gravesend in Kent just downriver from the QE2 bridge at Dartford. The noise/grain wasn't intentional
Cheers |
