Is spring here? Shot in the garden today. Placed a semi-circle of black card behind the flowers. Then, lying on my stomach I shot the flowers almost at ground level. Off-camera flash metered to f/16 at 1/125s, ISO100. Only took one shot!

I am finding when i started this challenge i was taking 40+ images of the same thing. Now i have gone manual and just take a couple at different apertures and shutter setting but i am really trying to get it right in camera. The shot.........Lovely job and wondered how you got a black background without digging them up!

Get some black A3 thick paper from a stationers or craft shop. Cut it lengthways down the centre. Tape two ends together and you have a strip about 30inches in length. You can use white paper also, for reflecting light evenly around small plants (bit like a portable light tent)

Nice shot, lighting and comp. Good tip with the reflector white card outside.
Very pure theme for one of yours Rob ;-)

You only need one shot if you can get it right first time. I think that's the mark of someone who really knows what they're doing. And, demonstrably, you do. Beautiful image.

this is lovely, its a typical example of how the number 3 works in a still life, and all 3 are in pefect position in the frame, well done for taking these in situ, most people would have picked them and set the shot up indoors, one shot lol I'm trying to remember to take more than one, with using film for so long i'm still consious of the expence.

That is a lovely shot! I, too, like the tip about the black paper. I'll try that, but probably won't be able to come close to the perfection of this composition.
