Default Abandoned Farm

Photographers Comments
I found this abandoned Farm in a forest clearing a few weeks back when I was out walking. I’ve blended two RAW conversions and darkened some areas to emphasise that this lovely clearing was a magical bright space in a deep dark forest.

Wow what a beautiful place that would be to live! If i had the money....! Love the darkening of the trees around the house. You've really made the bright clearing jump out of the dark forest. Beautiful

Thanks Zoë glad you like it. I’d love to live there too.

That’s what I though too Denny until I walked off down the track that is the only access. It’s very isolated but I thought a Landover would cope with the track, then I came to the bit where the river runs across the track and decided it would be far too much hassle getting home after a long day at work. Okay, could work from home but getting supplies in winter … hmm that could be tricky too. Nice to look at though.

hi Muriel . it really is lovely to look at .. and wonder why they haven't put a small bridge over where the river runs through. Thanks for sharing. .
Cheers

Thats a nice classy image Muriel, lovely and sharp and very punchy, can't do any more than that. You've been doing this for a while, haven't you?

Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Muriel, you have blended this well, I presume that you exposed for the sky on one and the building on the other, as you have kept good detail in the sky. The building is well framed with those trees and I like your darkening effect to keep you eye on the main subject. Well done.

Thanks Joseph and Barry. Glad you like it.

That's about it Barry but also used the Multiply Blending Mode to darken the sky. I might have applied some colour balance to the sky, can't remember if I did not this one or not

Sadly no Joseph I haven't been doing this for a while, I would like to be more experienced though. Got into photography about 18 months ago cos I wanted a hobby. I haven't got my own SLR yet, the one I use is borrowed. I started using RAW about 6 weeks ago by mistake, hadn't relised it was set on RAW but decided I liked the control it gives. I'm off sick at the moment and was bored the other day, decided to experiment with blending using a video tutorial from digital photo magazine. This was the result and the post before this but didn't like that one very much, lacks impact.

Thanks Else, I'm really chuffed that you like it

It's a National Trust property so I guess the lack of a bridge is down to money.
