Hi Josie, this is very different for you, nice tree and selective colouring.

Great idea!!! but for me the tree needs to be a lot sharper as it's in the foreground and there is a bit of soil in b&w which draws my attention as the rest is colour...

Good idea, works very well for me. If you hadn’t said it was B&W on colour it would have taken me a few moments to realise it. I love the way you have framed the tree. The trunk is well positioned in the frame and the branches spilling out of the edges top and left are just perfect. I like the colours in the sky and the shadow on the ground and fallen branch are nice details. It is just a little soft all over (was this added?) but I find it quite attractive.

There is a small patch of B&W just beneath where the trunk meets the ground (could this be cloned from the adjacent coloured grass?). I do wish that building wasn’t there (could this be cloned out as well?) … in fact, taking out the fence & building would enhance the natural feel & simplicity of the image for me.

Really like this, top image, Dave B.

Hi Dave, I noticed the b&w just below the tree after it was uploading, and just for you I'm going to try and clone out the building and the fence, love your comments, and your advice
