Default Stump, tarn and tree

Photographers Comments
Just back from a flying visit to Scotland. Expect more Scottish-themed offerings shortly. I was lucky to find the old tree stump at the edge of the tarn which added some texture and character to the shot of the lone tree.

Ooooh! Nice! Plenty of foreground interest and some nice reflections. Shame the sky is a bit flat, but its workable by the looks of it.

Where in Scotland did you find this spot?

Hi Paul. Thanks for the comment. I wasn't sure if adding interest into the sky would then draw the eye away from the main composition. This was up in Wester Ross, just outside a one-horse village called Badachro. (Nice pub there). We were on our way to Redpoint to photograph one of the finest beaches in the UK when I happened upon this tarn!

great shot, i would have popped a ND grad on this to bring the sky down a tad. it wouldnt in my opinion have detracted from the focus of the image as i think this is really strong...overall could do with a touch more contrast but the framing/cropping is just spot on! nice reflections

Lovely shot, just simulated an Nd grad in lightroom 2 think andy is right it would improve the sky. The main focus is the tarn and the textured log though its a lovely image. (hope you didnt mind the quick edit)

Hi Denny, no worries - edit away. I've just got to figure out a way of getting the sky a bit darker using Paint Shop Pro. I like a challenge, me

dodge and burn mate, select the sky then selectively dodge the dark bits and burn the light bits with a low setting say 8%

try it on a copy!
