hello everyone
i'm new here & very green with computers, hope you will all be patient with me. i wonder if it is possible to transfer my old pics to digital images, if you know what i mean.

EY UP Dave,
depends on what they are? iv'e scanned some of my old snaps with a scanner which cost me about £100 and they look fine.
I also understand that if you get a good scanner you can do slides as well,one of the more experienced guys (or girls Sorry) may have a better idea but i hope this helps mate...

Dave, welcome mate..
Take a photo..of your photo. do it outdoors if poss to get even light. tight as crop as you can get and load images onto your pc..thats one easy way of doing it anyway..

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the site. I always scan in my images at a dpi of 300. This works for me and leaves me with good workable results.

hi again friends
thanks for such a friendly welcome.i feel i must give you a brief insight as to how much a wally i am when it comes to computers, sites & general jargon.despite being repeatedly told, i can't absorb the terminology used, ie, what are blogs, cookies,and as phil mentioned - d.p.i. you see what i mean friends. due to this inexperience i won't be able to help in this competition /test. do bear with me i'll do my best to improve, i promise. no gaurantees though.while i think of it, i'll tell you all that in my full time job i'm on permanent night shift on a wed to sun basis. so if it seems i'm ignoring you all, i'm realy not. i've got a weeks leave this week ( that's how i'm online on wed ) a mighty thanks for the advice given regarding transfer of photo format.dogs need walking now . kindest regards dj dave
