Thanks to all for the welcome and advice. I had a look at the review for the G9 and was as impressed as a newbie should be. I will definitely go for as many extras as possible and will probably go for the G9.
As for tutorials I have the first ready to upload and just waiting to get the goahead. It will be interesting to see what feedback comes from them.
I am very impressed with some of the photos I have seen and still exploring. The great thing I have found sofar is the ideas that you get when browsing the gallery.

I have a Panasonic FZ50 which is a decent "Bridge Camera". It has a 35 to 420mm leica lens and is what I usually carry instead of my Canon and a bag of lenses
One minor problem is that the noise levels increase above ISO 400 (thats film noise) but all in all its a decent enough bit of gear

Hi xp1 .. Welcome aboard .. I am a newbie also.. arrived from cyber space yesterday .. I must say that I love my G7 .. and think if the G9 is anything like it .. you will love it ... My son who does special effects uses his G7 all the time .. filming and taking photos of what they are creating.
