Default Hello from the USA...

.. or what's left of it ! I'm an advanced amateur photographer working on turning pro. I began painting 40 years ago, started shooting 35 years ago with a Nikon F-1, and after going through a series of film cameras (mostly Minoltas), then a few P&S digitals, and finally Canon digitals, I currently shoot with a 1Ds Mark III and a 40D. My subject matter involves just about anything found in the eastern half of the US, not having been west of the Mississippi River in decades, but I gravitate towards nature, architectural, and historic subjects. With my primary home in Pennsylvania (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is Moonbase Alpha for me) I have a huge selection of historical subjects available to me within a 250 mile radius. Most of my nature subjects are shot in the Carolinas. Anywhere, glad to be here, and look forward to chatting, especially with photographers across the pond.

Cheers,
Brian Corll

Hi Brian, and welcome to here, where things are marginally better than in the US (but not a lot!). Look forward to seeing your work. If you have a website you can put it in your 'signature' so others can see it. Have fun.

Hi Brian, we have had a bit of a chat already. Welcome and anything you need just ask and someone here will chip in usually pretty quickly. We will get used to your satellite delay with timezones and stuff! Have a look at our challenges and PP page good way to et you out togging. A few of us are on a 365-2009 challenge which is to post at least one image a day for a year! (taken each day)

Default Hello from the USA....

Rob,
I have two websites both of which need work, and now that the holidays are over I should get to it. One is BCI Photography- powered by SmugMug, and the other is Eight Arts Photography. I'll put them in my signature.

Brian

Well, I'm very impressed with the site and the feature rich service, really almost everything you could ever want ….. but it’s not cheap. I bit the bullet and went for the premium (can’t remember what it’s called but is around 150 USD / year). It’s all fairly new to me (signed up last October - ish) and I haven’t started playing with the page formatting yet or adding in a guest book etc …. Hope to explore all that stuff very soon.

I really made the jump to SM after trying several straight hosting services (1&1, HostGator etc) but I just never seemed to have the time to build & populate my site as I would like it. It all became a little too labour-heavy so a service like SM was the way to go for me ….. so far it seems to do everything it says on the tin, and more. I also like the idea that it’s (largely) created by photographers for photographers (e.g. features like the protection from ‘right-click / save-as’ are useful) and has DigitalGrin in support.
