Default Reflections Old River Nene - Outwell

Photographers Comments
Trying Infra Red shots using a Hoya R72 Filter and Fuji S100fd. Ay advice on colour mixing would be welcome.

Hi Graham, Good to have some more IR shots on this forum, I like your composition and the sky is great. As for the colour, when you set your whitebalance, make sure that the IR filter is fitted and then point the camera at grass or foliage to preset WB, as this produces the best whitebalance for IR work, plus IR images come out better when everything is in full sun light so that you can record the IR being reflected. We will look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks - when I set the white balance on the grass, the majority of the time the camera displays "under" which is really anoying..... havent found out how to overcome this yet.

My Nikon sometimes struggles to preset WB with IR filter fitted, just make sure that the grass is in full sunlight. Once you have managed to preset WB, I have saved this as a preset and use it every time I do IR work, I do not try and re-set the WB every time.

Had to look at this seeing as the name is so familiar - I'm from Welney! -nice looking image, cant help technically though I'm afraid but I like it
