Ticked all the boxes there our Barry, got to the core of the challenge and executed it. Could argue there are large areas of shadow with no detail, but the subject is perfectly exposed and the colours are good. Looks nicely framed as well, Long focal length must have been the tricky bit! Well done

I set up camera and focused manually whilst still light, then left camera set up outside until darkness fell. Took six shots with flash in various positions. I did not want to light up too much, otherwise your eyes will move away from the fruit. so it was a matter of finding a good compromise.

Given the brief this is an impressive result. It is visually striking and the depth of the colour is very good. Also, you have avoided flash hotspots on the skin. Well done, like it.

Cheers Barry,
I find this to be inspirational stuff, obviously with a shorter focal length for non PP work.
What time does it get dark?

Had to put a thin white cloth over flashgun defuser to stop causing hotspots as the apples are shiny and would otherwise had burnt out.

It seemed like I waited for ages last night, set camera up about nine whilst watching 'taggart' and had to wait until it got dark.
