mind you a big 800mm zoom would be about 4k as well

Whay hay 2 off us with a new Sony A350!!! Makes a change from these Nikons and Canons. I find mine great by the way.

Me too, had an f828 before, pretend slr, but took some lovely photos with it, one of which was sold and paid for the new a350x I have.

Thanks for all the great comments - I wasnt expecting such a response.

I havent even got a DSLR - I am still using a Bridging camera (Fuji S100fs) at present as I am very much a novice.

I cheated a bit to capture the photo, though it could be done for under £100.00

I used a Nexstar 6SE:

Celestron Nexstar 6 SE Telescope SALE

Also a £15 ish adaptor from Ebay:

Telescope 58mm Digital Camera New Photo 58mm Adapter on eBay, also, Telescopes, Binoculars Telescopes, Photography (end time 12-Aug-08 11:38:05 BST)

And only a Fuji S9600, so nothing in the league of most of the cameras being used by other members.

However a £75 telescope with a good eyepiece will give just as good results.

If you get a good night and the right time of year you can expand a bit to :

Admittedly the above photo of saturn is not the best, but it is a long way away.
