Abandoned building and stream
Photographers Comments
This was one of my shortlist for the black and white comp, it was a old abandoned building with a stream running down the side, the sky was very dark and about to rain but the sun was shining on this building. But I was not happy with the final image, although I cant quite work out why it has not worked. Or has it. comments welcome.

I think its a contrast thing mate. It is a cracker of a pic but there is a lot of mid grey to it. Maybe a curves touch to the good old 's' shape or just a plain contrast adjustment would help.
I may be wrong mate...been a long day but on first sight it looks a teeney bit flat compared to your normal work.

Hi TCO, thanks for your comment and I agree it does look a bit flat, I must admit I have never got my head around curves in PS, I genally play with Levels and Contrast and then use Masks to remove or reduce the effect from certain areas of the image.

Hi Barry .. I bought a Scott Kelby book awhile back and have done some changes to your photo in curves .. not that perfect .. I guess I should have really gone to the B&W conversion in his book .. but thought I would see what this looked like .. Hope you don't mind ..
Cheers
Else

Hi Else, no problem editing my photos, I like what you have done as it seems to have more life to it, I must have a play myself now and see if I can get my head around these curves.
