If this well had been in southampton...you would probably seen Andy eos1Nrs's botty perched over the edge. He has no self control whatsoever whilst in public places.

I presume that you had a friend on the surface with the ladder . You should be careful as bad air can quite often been found at the bottom of wells etc. as there is no through draught to circulate fresh air.
