Great dated effects added and as already stated, it suits the subject perfectly.
But, for me it begs the question; Why when we see an image of a subject such as this do we often try to date it? ... Yet, if we were to be given an original image from the era to replicate we would often try to clean it up and make it look new! ........Or is that just me

I think it's to do, as you said Phil, with the subject. You wouldn't take a picture of an Aston Martin DB7 and apply these effects - you'd go for something more crisp and modern looking, or I would anyway. The background of the barge was, I can only say, naff. So that had to go. The subject was interesting but as taken, not very inspiring. So, how to make an image that pleases visually? Well, my thought was to date the subject. At least it provokes some debate and that's good!
