Byland Abbey - North Yorkshire
I am just getting into photography again after having done quite a lot as a youngster. I took this photograph this afternoon of Byland Abbey and wondered what could have made it better or what anybody thinks.
Cheers
Tony

I would straighten the tower, it may be straight but it looks like its leaning right (might be perspective). Black and white may have given more contrast, and i would have cropped a bit of the foreground out.
Love old ruins though. Great sky.

I am much happier with the revised image using your advice, its suprising how little things can completely change the picture. I have always liked sepia but I do think black and white makes this picture much better.

I dont mind sepia, i just like the Black and white for ruins and similar subjects. It seems better contrast, i am fairly new to photography so expect some more informed comments!!
Nice thing about the comments here are they are all honest and positive and aimed at helping people improve! There are some really good photographers here, and they do share ideas.

Just a point, if you had gone to gallery and uploaded the photo there it would appear on the home page and give others who didnt spot it where you put it a chance to comment. Once you have made 5 posts (which you have now talking to me) you can post images properly to the gallery.
Have a look at the Personal Projects they are really good for making you think as well!
