any ideas why the edges look so jagged on here but smooth on my version?!

Was going to suggest the same as Merv....it looks smooth there

Good shot Lisa perhaps it could be cropped in a little, as I find the black a bit too much........I love the bright yellow!!!

Nice colur but have to agree about the crop. Its too small in the frame and looks a bit out of balance.

Another great work from you. You compsoe it very well. But I will prefer to use the natural light as flash can cause shadow & the color is too flat.

when im taking photographs of flowers i tend to put a piece of tissue over the flash with a rubber band to defuse the light this will work with cameras with built in flash as well as off camera flash units! another good one is sweet wrappers over the flash etc .. worth having a play with!
a slightly tighter crop as suggested above works better and if you are working in RAW try a few different white balances to remove some of the obvious flash glare! hope that helps
