hmmm, my first thought was about how it would look with a contrasty mono look. Was it possible to take a shot looking down a row of these metal frames ? This is the sort of image i would love to play in photoshop with to try my techniques out.

I will be interested to know how it does in the comp.

I did take quite a few from different angles, but I was concerned about keeping patterns as the main point and I thought that this one worked best. Although I preferred as you said looking down the tunnels but patterns did not jump out at me. I have entered three different images - these are now all with a external judge, so we won't know the results until Tuesday evening, fingers crossed .

we have got some members in our club who are really into this type of abstract photography, so I'm not expecting to do well, but who knows, all depends on what the judge likes. Will let you all know next week.

Here is a critique of a novice who has done very little of this. I want to try this and you can flick it out the window if you want...lol

I'm finding that the idea is working well at the bottom, going up, but my brain and eyes go whacky when they are led up into the green and charcoal of the upper part. The bottom starts out, elegant, precise and repetively simple..but it gets quickly lost as the eyes get lost in the maze of tightly jammed patterns. Jarring to the eyes and then the eyes make a quick exit out the top. I do like the bottom, for there I find it a restful design, combined with color, where the eye explores and enjoys with leisure.

Hi Fay, thanks for your comments and you are right about the upper part of this image being very busy compared to the bottom, but I felt that this one offered the best in 'patterns' compared to the others that I took. Although it does look better printed large and mounted for the competition.

Our judge did not turn up for our comp . So hopefully he will be able to attend in a few weeks time, then I can let you all know what he thought of this image.
