Hello my friend...gotta love that light. I have a great fondness for pretty greys, so this attracts me. Beautiful background..like the splashes of pure white

This is a view I haven't seen for a long time, I used to catch the ferry for years from here. You've captured it well, nice angle and lighting and the frothy water making the ferry have movement. Josie

The light is very good indeed. It gives the whole image a 'real' look. Rather than looking like an image it looks like a portal or window in my monitor as though this image is outside my house.
Yup I am an oddball. But this is how much I love the lighting and indeed the sharpness of the shot. Composition excellent. Nice work xNx

Despite the overcast day, the image is of superb quaulity. In fact if anything the dark greys just go on to add even better contrast to the lighter tones. Must say it's wonderful capture for digital, and pushing the tonal range to the max. Nicely done xNx.

Hi xNx,
I can only concur about the light on this image, it is stunning.
I personally would have liked to have seen a little more of the water line without the railings and wooden structures at the bottom of the frame. (Maybe 2 - 3 paces forwards if that was possible to look over the top of the said offence, and tilting the camera more to show a little more of the water line, but without cropping the height of the buildings and skyline too much). To achieve this you would have probably needed to open your focal length even further, and this may have caused converging angles.......So, now I am rambling and you may need to forget all that I have said.
Great shot.

Thanks everyone! Very much appreciate the wide scope of thoughts and feedback.
Thought Taronga might be closer to your heart Teddles
Oh those Liners zipped right outta there too quick
Re:the light, it was sheer luck that there was a break in the morning clouds, which tended to highlight the ferry and the piers, otherwise I am sure it would have been complete dullsville.
Photo Phil ~ At the time, I was thinking the rails would add an element of 'frame' and almost like a baseline to the water. I see exactly the what you mean though, it would look cleaner, less busy without the rails. Oh, I wonder if I did at the time do those steps forward as you suggested. Must look through the originals again. I am sure I have another... and if not..then it is good advice I must remember ( why do I forget?grr) in future to always try a few compositions.
Many thanks!

Did I hear someone say 'skinny dip'???
My guess as to why you didn't do more compositions was because that lucky shaft of light got snuffed out by another cloud...it can go as quickly as it comes.
