Hi Tedz .. this is the information .. that I received from my son ... Quote: Well the first thing we would do is tent off your area with douvateen which is a black material that is non reflective... so that reflection is cut down to a minimum ... have your light source indirect meaning bounce your light in.. off a piece of show card or a sheet of white styrofoam..... but at the same time having this light from a specific place might enhance the small fractures more.... and lock off camera and shoot at a high aperture so that your shots will take longer this may help with the reflection problem and will give you greater detail ..... example ... if you normally shoot F4 at 250 you could conceivably shoot F11 at 30 and also try it the other way around too.... shoot at a lower aperture higher speed .... and for **** sake do not move your body because your movement in the back ground may show up or better yet shoot remotely
good luck there is always an answer sometimes it just takes longer :end Quote Barry told me that douvateen is Black Cloth when he was taking to me on the phone .. I told him to email me .. lol .. I sure didn't know what it was .. thought he was talking a alien language .. lol .. Salute .. Hope this helps you Tedz .
Cheers
Else

Thanks heaps for all that info Else ...*waves* to Your Son Barry
This *douvateen* has Me stumped, as I can find no info on the Material, but I shall ask the local haberdashery that does the Hems of My Floral Frocks.
The Black Material I have been using is well past it's use by date.
It has become thread bare (worn out at knees) and very reflective. I have used it since I left the Seminary when the Bishop decided I was not suitable to be a Man in Black *salute*

Hey Tedz, have you tried using black card? or pointing your light source onto card and reflecting the light back so you get to "direct" the light to where you want it to go?

Hi my friend....I'm afraid I will be of absolutely no use to you here, I am interested in the cure for the problem however as it might improve my technique for shooting my paintings.....sadly being the poor artist that I am I don't think I can afford the kit lol.....Can I make something out of cardboard and sticky backed plastic ala "Blue Peter"???

I think the artwork is fantastic.....very reminiscent of African tribal masks too!!!!Please pass on my compliments to John!

Sending you a big kiss for your voyage of discovery....

Diane

What is all this Kissing in the Forum ...*sigh*
Diane, should You be interested in Johns Art, then perhaps You would like to have a wee peep at a Site I maintain for Him ... I do all Photography:
The Art of John Moriarty |
I have noted that You also have painted in Acrylic, and have possibly experienced the hardship of Photographing the Art just right.
Catch You on the flip side. *salute*
