what was wrong with this technology? its brill to see all the valves and stuff. And the big red electronic parking brake.

Its not a parking brake - its taken from the signal box to save on staffing. The engine drivers now operate the signals as well - Job Cuts and all that

Casey Jones would had been pleased with this shot . I think we have a few H&S issues here thou, No sign saying 'HOT do not stick your hand inside this hole'.

Good shot Len with plenty to look at.

Good point Barry, hope they did a risk assessment as well. Could trip over that coal on the floor and fall out of the train so definite trip hazard.

Great shot, I love the glow coming from the Firebox.

There's something about Steam Engines that I just don't see in diesel and electric, they seem almost alive.

Hi Guys;Thanks for looking and comments; Lots of people around at the time had to wait my turn but couldn't get a shot of the fireman stoking the boiler for H&S poster; Sound, sight and smell were terrific.
