It was 4am this morning and I noticed this white glowing orb casting light and shadows in through my bedroom window. So naturally I took out my trusty Canon and photographed it. Did anyone else catch a glimps of this spectacle.

Does that time exist, never seen it myself. Anyway as for your image, lighting was nice, I see that you were using a 300mm lens so I presume that you cropped in to get this picture, I have seen sharper images, but I do like the lighting on the top l/h side of the moon the way it has lit up the craters.

i saw the craters too, very nice. never tried it myself but fancy a go.
since now i have a baby i'll be able to get photos of every conceivable time of day & night!
did you use shutter release cable or timer or press shutter manually??
slight focus issue i thought but that maybe down to resize to screen res losing quality..
champion shoot anyhows and i fully intend to have a go altho i only have a 200mm 2.8 to play with, might stick it on the 10D to move it up a few mm

It is not as good as I would have liked. I have seen other images on other sites taken with allegedly the same lens, yet they always appear to be so much closer. I have had to crop and enlarge this version, just to try and get close to similar results. (Not with much success). I did use the rule as indicated by Alistair, 100 ISO 125th sec exp f.11 which gave good exposure results. Focus out, but it was 04:00am I'll try again tonight.
Regards....Phil

Hi Phil, I know what you mean, I tried photographing star trials the other night and was not impressed with the results, so I will have to keep playing until I get it right, we both have the right kit, it is just a case of getting it set up to do what we want. All good fun.
