I always find it difficult to comment on multiple images in the same thread but I ‘ll start the ball rolling and we’ll see where we get.

No.1 Great image of yester year, I’m not convinced that the background at the top is needed so I’d look to crop down and focus totally on the tractor. This would look great as part of a series of old farm machines or maybe just old machines, converted to B&W/sepia.

No.2 Well it’s an add shot for the manufacturer. Is there an angle you could shoot from to have the blades coming from each corner and the mast from the last?

No.3 Good strong shapes and shadows I particularly like how the negative sky shapes separates the image.

No.4 A shot of your TV? I’ll reserve my comments for the show producers, as I’m not to sure what you are showing off, quality of the TV, quality of the HD signal, quality of the camera, or a combination of all three.

I only want to talk about image 1 the others are good but 1 for me is great I love it the front reminds me of the lead character in the cartoon animation Robots. It has a face and although old and rusty is still sort of smiling for the camera. Love the nostalgia in it. I know I say this a lot but maybe a B&W or even a sepia copy might be good. But saying that I love the colour of this image.

1) i can see why you have cropped in tight and the tight crop works well... maybe worth putting the image on a new backbround?
2) the power turbines... either a close up of the middle section of the turbine or as allister recommended may have been better
3) i agree good strong shapes the lighting works well
4) sorry for me and im sure many photographers taking photos from the TV is a NO NO
mainly because the film you see on tele is that of another camera person .... so seems like a cop out but the image itself is good

Thanks for your comments.

No 1.

I had to crop the tractor so close because the background was very uninspiring. Please feel free to play with the image to show me what you mean.

No 2.

I never thought about the angles. i just took the shot and the thought ' what the hell am I doing taking a picture of a bloody wind turbine'. Very sad : (

No 3.

This is my favorite of the bunch.

No 4.

New camera. Just playing.....

Thanks for that. I think I'm going to go back and have a good go at this poor old tractor

No 1.

I don't think I understand what do you mean by 'putting the image on a new backbround' ?

Please explain or show me an example.

I'm here to pick brains.

using the full size image and going into photoshop and using the extract tool to add the lovely old tractor onto maybe an image of a field or a barn

here i had a very muddy field bad bad background but i liked the cars ... so
i actually painted the background black around the original car, then opened a new black canvas in black double the size of the original photo, Then dragged the whole of the car image across.. then dragged the same image across again so i had two of the same car on the one canvas... then went to "edit" "transform" then "flip canvas vertical" so now you have a car the right way up and one upside down. goto the layers pallette and click on the upside down car layer... and change the opacity to 29%
when your happy with the positioning of your images then goto "layer" "merge"
all done
i also used a blend mode of soft focus on the cars .
the finished product pictured below
