The red collar stands out well against the log and background .... an emotional shot! Well thought out, Paul!

I find this a very powerful image. To me it does look like the dog is lost and not the collar.
and yes, the little devils can slip a collar without it being undone

Voted mate!
Cracking image and as mentioned, very thought provoking. Love the way your imagination works - fancy passing some this way?

This was one of the first images I saw on here and found it very striking. I disagree with you Barry - I think the fact that the collar is done up really focuses the mind on what isn’t there i.e the dog!

Thanks Lel.
Yep, i hope so too! I put a lot of work and time into my photography. Some times the images i post have taken lots of planning and a fair bit of waiting for the ' right light' (yes, i'm one of those photographers!). I do take images on the spur of the moment, especially visiting somewhere new, but most of the time i re-visit places with a specific shot in mind. Then, of course, its back to the computer for the 'make-over'!

Lost...
An old dogs collar lying on a fallen tree in the forest.
I wanted to create an image to visualise the emotion of losing a pet. Two horizontal frames were photo-stitched to create a vertorama. The image overall image was softened in photoshop, then selectively de-saturated to give emphasis to the collar. Finally LOST was added to the dog tag.

Great production I got the emotive bit behind the shot and it works well with the format of the photograph. I do agree with previous comments it would have been even better with collar open,..Also how about instead of Lost on the tag a dogs name..pick a good one. You would get an immediate connection with all those owners out there.
