Canon 40d and CS2
Discoverd today that if you have CS2 you cannot load RAW files from the 40d
There has been a update for ACR (adobe camera raw) to support this camera but it is only compatible with CS3 and there will be no update for CS2 so it looks like to me that adobe are pushing the use of DNG.
So it looks like the only options are:
1. Use canon DPP (it comes with the camera) to output TIFFs
2. Use the free adobe DNG converter to convert the CR2 files to DNG, then use CS2 to open the DNG files.
3. Buy CS3

thats a shame.
I've got a 1Dmk2 and use CS2 without a problem. I have also used canon's DPP and its pretty good but not very user friendly
bit of a bullying tactic dont you think to get us to use PNG?

Of course the other option which is my preferred method is to use c1pro for raw conversion or you could always use adobe lightroom which supports the 40d.

I also use the 1dmkII , waiting for the update to the 5d which will be announced early 2008 so i think this will have the same issues as the 40d with ACR.

can you do a search for an older version of camera raw which may work for you? some websites hold archived versions of updates etc. and then dont update after that?
