I'm not a wedding photographer yet, but having been an event photographer, my best advice is to have fun, but be in charge.
Can't wait to see your results.

Wow have only been to work for 10 hours and this lot crops up!!! thanks everyone for all the best wishes and advice.
I must say i'm feeling quietly confident about the whole thing (probably CR****NG myself by tomorrow),but i have omitted to let you in on a vital piece of information which will help me greatly (and perhaps hinder me as well) the groom has got 4 yes 4 best men,of which i am one of.
So i will know pretty much everyone there,i will not be paid for the job as it's my best mate, but this only spurs me on to do the very best job that i possibly can just for him(AHHHHH sweet LOL).
I might make a few quid as 3 people have asked me to do them shots of their kids all done up like kippers so to speak,so with that and knocking out a few prints to the family/friends i feel a modest remuneration may be coming my way....
Oh god i'm thinking about it to much now and the stomaches starting to go, so cheers and will keep you posted with the happenings and pics....

Blimey mate you have a lot on!
Who's gonna photo your speech? LOL.
Kudos to you for sorting your mate out and good idea to do some add ons, get everything you can out of them, don't forget your own financial investment into all of this.
Good luck, enjoy, can't wait to see the results fella.

To be quite honest it was a bit of a nightmare,B&G wanted to do the photos at the primary school where the reception was held.so i did a few of just them 2 outside the church. Then i did a few more in front of a dodgy hedge and tree outside the school. Then some against a grey stone wall. The bridesmaids didn't turn up from the church before it started chucking it down(30 mins later than the last guest ),so they got shot on the hall stage in front of the curtains. Then i did a few people family shots in front of some brown varnished doors in the canteen(which was the only unpostered/unpaintinged surface in the whole bloody school). There were too many people trying to take pics while i was (about 7-8) and no-one took a scrap of notice of the bestman i gave my list of shots to to get the people for me.All this on top of trying to perform my bestman duties.
So to recap,i didn't get all the shots i wanted, and i didn't really get one good BG to shoot with!!!
I can see a hell of a lot of RAW processing and Photoshopping ahead to get something out of what i shot... I'll see you in about 3 weeks...

My hat off to you too. Was not an easy job for sure.
Just think of what you've learned from the experience though, and probably what you'll learn in editing too and be positive.
Thanks for sharing.
