That's me arrested then if i go to London, define odd..........!!! Half the population, and if you go to a big city you want to photograph it...must be elf & safety or too many people watching spooks. Half of London on any day is piggin tourists for gods sake and all the jails are full...end of rant but what a bummer.

last time I was in London, I was threatened with Arrest for Indecent Exposure just because I had a big Zoooooooooooom Lens

lol... they can report who they like the fact is if you are taking photos on public property then can do fork all! bring it on

as a matter of fact i recently read a letter from downing street in reply to a petition where they admit they can do nothing about people taking photos in public places and they do not condone the police arresting people who do so! go figure

I had an incedent on one occasion whilst photographing for a local rag. All hell broke loose, and around a dozen cops started to lay into a single guy outside a nightclub. Naturally I started to take a few piccy's. Not wanting a scene of obvious police brutallity being caught on camera, they turned their attentions to me, demanding that any images of their actions were deleted. After several minutes of arguing my case, (Informing them of my rights as a photographer, on public land, not instigating the offence, press card etc) I reluctantly gave up my camera to collect it from the cop shop. When I arrived I met with the desk sergent to collect my cam and subsequently deleted the images from the memory card in his presence to satisfy the ol' Bill. What he wasn't aware of was the possibilities of retrieval programs, and wasnt too happy when these images appeared in the local rag that weekend, with a headline underlining the heavy handed attitude of the local police. Needless to say the guy who was arrested on that occasion was suddenly released without charge.

Censorship is occurring on all levels and in many cases the Public simply rolls over and obeys

Mrs Angry from Purley!!!! It does get up my nose though they even think they can stop people going about their normal law abiding business.

Awesome Phil, I was on the receiving end of a copper who was wrong, lucky for me/him all he wanted was for me to apologise, i didn't like admiting I had done wrong when I knew I was right but it kept the peace.

Thanks Tedz, but, I have to admit at that time, I felt very intimidated, I was reluctant to release the images. It was only after a few calls from the local press editor and a lot of persuading that I agreed too. Whether I was or not I felt very "watched". It gave me a complex for a while.

lol... i started life as a music photographer

noisy busy pubs full of drunk heavy weights and just lil ol me on my own snapping away... boy can i kick butt when i have to

if anyone knows a good lawyer im sure they would make a killing on all those wronged photographers that will be suing them!
they are not beyond the law themselves and have to answer to a higher authority... if people stand firm when they are right then nothing can be done! phil they couldnt do anything if you refused to delete the images but i love your gumption mate
