Wedding Photo book recommendations?
Hi all I have recently been asked by a friend to take images of their wedding in October this year. They are not looking for anything too formal but want a sort of mix of some staged photos and mostly natural, candid type images showing people enjoying themselves.
I have never done anything like this before.
Can any one recommend a really useful and not too technical book that will give me the basics, ie apertures, flash etc.
Any suggestions would be really useful so I can gen up and hopefully get some practise in before the day.

Hi Trev,
can I ask as to whether these images are to be the official images of the day, or are you photgraphing these to compliment those taken by an official photographer?

A colleague of mine was at the imaging 2008 show and he came across Loxley Colour - Imaging for Professionals, Port Dundas, Glasgow, Scotland
They do photobooks and if your register, you'll be able to have to access their software for design as well as placing orders of 20x30, framed prints etc. I had a quick look today and the software does indeed look impressive and makes ordering from them a breeze.
My colleague also told me he knows of a number of photographers that swear by them. Worth taking a look. I'm going to giving them a try for my next order.
Apparently, they will create a colour profile to suit your home/office monitor and not the other way around so when you order from them you are getting prints exactly the same as what you see on your own screen and this is a free service that they offer.

can i recommend you have a second person with another camera helping you! ( a back ups helpful and they can get angles that you didnt ) I dont want to pile the pressure on but wedding photography is stressful tiring you will not get to enjoy the wedding food or drink... you need to be a little bossy, dont be afraid to pull the bride and groom away from the group usually well away from the group for a shoot on their own ( no distractions )
a brief informal speach to the bride and groom something along the lines off.... " I know this is your big day but if you want great photos then humour me"
you need to talk to them about what they want .. formal or informal
talk them through your ideas ... ie
taking photos of the bride straightening her garter.. her reflection in the mirror the usual classics
do they want black and white or colour photos?
go and have a look at the locations before you do the day! picture in your head what you want and where and stick to it... and then take off the cuff shots of the guests
and good luck
