Your first camera and your first digital camera
Am interested to know what peoples first cameras were, and how many cameras you have had over the years. My first camera was a 35mm non-SLR, it was a nice little camera, proper part metal / part plastic body and pretty robust but cant remember make, I think it was some obscure make that I had never heard of before, or since. My Mum gave it to me when she upgraded to a canon SLR, I was about 12 years old at the time and thats when my love of photography started. I had that camera for years, well until I was into my twenties, when I bought my first digital camera which was a fuji finepix 1300, very basic compact camera with 1.3MP. Then I upgraded to a 2800, then a 5500, then a 9600 before switching makes to Nikon and going for a D80 last year. So I have been through quite a few cameras as you can see.

I have had many cameras over the years, my first being a 35mm Olympus Trip, then moved onto a Practitor (bad spelling) and then a Olympus OM10 which I used for about 15 years, next was a Nikon F801 with autofocus which was in used up until a couple of years ago. Digital started about 10 years ago with me, this was a Ricoh RDC5000 compact which cost me about £500, then about 5 years ago I brought my Nikon D70 and finally moved onto a D200, I also now have a range of compacts Olympus mu720sw waterproof camera plus a Canon G7 and of course my Infrared D70.

My camera's
Hi john,
started off with a little ixus and took loads of pics on the panoramic setting (all looked pretty naff),then bought a panasonic lumix FZ30 a couple of years ago and said i wouldn't ever need an slr.
Nine months later and i got a nikon d80 and the world opened up, said to my missus that's it duck it'll do anything i want it to it's really cool.
Fifteen months later and last xmas arrived and so did a nice bonus (really nice for a factory worker) so i just had to have a d300 and that's really really cool!!
Oh i also use a nikon s200 compact for parties & stuff...

I was given a zenith 35mm camera which used to be my grandfathers many many years ago. After a huge gap, I then picked up a Nikon f80 (may be wrong here just guessing) about 5 years ago later followed a Fuji S2 pro. I now have 2 Nikon D200s and fingers crossed will be selling one of them to get a D300 or sell both for a D3.

I don't think the upgrade to a D300 is really worth the money, I know digital noise is controlled a bit better. But I will wait until the end of the year when prices have settled or dropped and probably go for a D3.

My first camera was a 35mm Kodak (can't remember the model) but it had a flash where it took individual bulbs. I was about six. When I took photography more seriously at a school dinner time club, I progressed to a Zenith B. (A widely understated peice of kit). After a while I managed to scrape together some of my pennies and purchace a practika 35mm kit. I also had an old Olympus trip 35mm. I moved on to Canon EOS with 650 x 2 300 and 10. My first digital was the Olympus C20/20Z. I also have Canon EOS 300D x 2 with focal lengths from 18 - 500mm, Nikon Fujix DS505 and a handy little Kodak ZD710
