Have you seen this guy's work? I don't know how he does it but it's quite unique and certainly has great impact. Looks like there is some sort of HDR thing going on.

I really do like those images, I've seen similar images and I can definitely see some dragonizing in the images. I'm still trying to find a link to a photographers site that mastered this technique but still haven't been able to find it yet. I will though one day and will post it here.

I do like His range of Models and the style of the Young ... as to
the method, I would not have a clue, and am ignorant even on what a high pass filter is.
I use PhotoShop Elements 4, which I am yet to master or even understand, however I do use a plug in with it:
