Hi I feel its more about ensuring should you have any issues you have people who can be contacted for technical advice and maybe the potential return of what is an expensive investment. So there are plenty of websites which may offer cheap kit on e-bay e.t.c but you have no Plan B should it go wrong.
So either find a small independent camera company locally to yourself or buy from a reputable company on-line who can give you comfort with your purchase. I tend to use these Guys Warehouse Express - Digital Camera, Digital SLR Cameras, Lens, Canon, Nikon They are maybe slightly more expensive but i have to return stuff, they collect at their expense and use a courier who brings a replacement item if applicable i would recommend them. For smaller purchases say batteries and stuff i would tend to roam about more and use other suppliers. (Amazon e.t.c) Beware a lot of bogus sites have been operating who take your money and run, the prices are just about cheapest and the sites credible. I got ripped off on a £600 surround system and i am still fighting to get my money returned.

For cameras and lens I always pay a bit more and buy from my local camera shop, they will match Warehouse Express prices and I get it in my hands as I hand the money over. But battery's and Memory cards I buy on-line.

Prices on camera price buster always seem to come from reputable dealers. I have found loads of too good to be true deals through google shopping so I don't trust it until it throws up a shop I recognise.
