I'd be expecting some very contrasty light, usually have to ignore blown out areas if you want any detail at all in pretty much anything.
As it's quite a big star you can probably expect them to use enough lighting gear to make things a little easier, I've been invited to shoot gigs and ended up 20 feet underground with little more than candle light to shoot in! The norm is to shoot wide open at high ISO and take what shutter speed you get, don't worry about noise, nobody else does. A lot of venues don't allow cameras with removable lenses, it's the easiest way to ban SLR's and usually stated on the back of the ticket. I think the reason is to stop people turning up with 600mm f/4's and getting in other peoples way. Last edited by cyclone; 19-11-2009 at 09:16. |

Thanks everyone, but we had an email back from the council (Paul my hubby emailed to ask about taking camera's) and they said no "professional" camera's basically anything thats more than a film camera aren't allowed but normal cameras and mobiles are fine, and hubby reckons if I take my camera and they do a bag search and find it, and take it off me its just gonna be hassle so I prob won't take my camera now
but thank you for all the great advice anyways. A friend of mine is supposed to be coming over today with her baby and wants me to take some shots of the baby so we'll see how that goes lol

At least once during the gig you will regret not taking your camera; but not 'worrying' all night will help you enjoy it a lot more.
Get a 'feel' for the surroundings and think about taking a (smaller) camera the next time you go there. PS. Did you know that Noel Gallagher named his new band after a gig, that he was guitar tech for the Insipid Carpets, at the Oasis Centre? (they weren't called Centre!) |
