Probably preaching to the converted so this is for noiseninja newbies, here's a sample pic of a program I have only just got my hands on, this is a 100% crop at 1600 ISO, the left half unedited right with default settings applied, pretty cool eh? also the full picture which was hand held @ 1/4 @ f/2.8

Hi Dave, I am also very impressed with noiseninja, although I only use the default settings which seemed to work very well. I have not played any further than that.

I have set up noise profiles for JPEG and RAW as recommended and it make sit even more effective. took about an hour, involves photographing out of focus colour charts unless you have a canon or Nikon and they are already there on the website FOC!

I read something about that but not done anything about it as yet, maybe next week if I get a spare moment I will have a look.

Profiles are already there for most SLRS except mine just download them here you go

TVM for this infop. I was just about to look into noise reduction software myself to cope with 1600 iSO images. I have a couple of questions ....

1. Is NN a good bit better than the Noise Reduction feature already in PhotoShop? I've use the PS feature and it prtoduces not too bad results but does tend to soften the image.
2. Is it easy to use straight from the box? I'm really begining to hate the learning curve necessary with some software, life's too short.

Install into PS filter plug-ins-import camera profiles from link given to barry , (above). run filter, noise profile works it all out and press the button and see the results. By all accounts its smarter than PS at noise reduction, if you want to exclude areas or just noise reduce some areas there is a noise brush you paint onto the image.

No learning curve neccesary

or just make a mask in ps and then run the filter

Always another way ! cant do masks in elements though!
