Default Killing Field Phnom Phem Cambodia

Photographers Comments
A reminder of how mankind can do unspeakable acts towards one another and at times the rest of the world looks on and let it happen apart from when it has some strategic importance like OIL!
Cambodia was such a place of little importance so we let it continue for nearly 10 years

As you say a poignant reminder of the depths the human race can sink to.

I agree a chilling image and in a strange way a beutiful abstract composition. Brilliant use of black and white and colour to enhance the image.

very gripping....It's embarrassing how we humans can be so sanctimoniously against cruelty and yet glibbly ignore it, if fighting it, doesn't quite fit our present agenda

As Nik so aptly said a chilling image and an awful reminder that we're members of a race that often only gives places like Cambodia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe (and the list goes on) our consideration when the big news channels decide to sensationalise and give them their attention.

That said it's a well taken shot and I agree with Shazzers observation.

Peter,
You just said so well "some strategic importance like OIL" is so true.
I have seen similar things in my travels, but I can't help to ask myself the same question over and over --WHY--.
Wars have not solved too many problems, but certainly created alot of human misery on both sides.
Thanks for sharing this thought provoking picture. Hans
