This is the entrance to the old Jewish cemetery in Merthyr Tydfil. Worth a visit for some interesting photography. One of the largest Jewish cemeteries in South Wales. The grounds were purchased in the 1860s with some reports suggesting that the first burial took place in 1867 and others in Feb 1872.

without the write up its just an old gate, however it adds meaning knowing where it leads to. Nice sharp image and it works well in B & W

Don't agree Dennis. This, to me, is an excellent example of a typical "photographer's photograph." People who take "snaps" don't LOOK at what's around them. People who get deeper into photography LOOK more closely at what's around them, and therefore they SEE more of what there is, compose a view of it, and take sometimes "meaningless" but enigmatic photos of old wooden sheds, stone walls, open gates leading to... intriguing the viewer. Art by people who might not be able to paint or draw!

I stand by my viewpoint but yours is very valid as well and i agree with what you say. It is very obvious Rob doesnt just point and shoot as a lot of my favourite images are his. What Rob does do well is give a little write up so you know what he was thinking.
