Photographers Comments
This Infrared image was taken on a very overcast cold day (to-day), and has managed to make it look brighter and more cheerful. All of these barges are moored up for the winter.

Hi Barry,
whta a great image. I love the way you've captured the crisp sharp atmosphere of a frosty day.
The only really nit picky thing, and i'm only expressing how i see it, is that i found my eye drawn from the reed mace, along the l bank to the bridge, once oer the trees and onto the barges themselves and back along from the rear to the front one. Half way along it my eye was hijacked, caught by that bloody telegraph pole, then the next to the right. It spoiled the flow along the barge and led me to a dead end as i found it difficult to link back onto the barge when caught by that second pole.
I'd be very pleased to produce an image of such quality, but would definately play wit the pixels to lose the poles and cables.

Hi Dave, thanks for your comments about the poles I will go back and have a play in PS. As for your comment about being frosty, well it was not, the grass, reeds etc reflect a lot of Infrared wavelengths which is why they appear white in a photo, and more solid items reflect less so they appear darker. I will be doing a article soon all about Infrared which will be posted on this site which hopefully will explain it a bit more.

Hi Debs, as I have explained to Dave (above) the white appearance of the grass, reeds etc is a characteristic of Infrared photography. And thanks for your comments.

maybe lose the poles but from an appeal view, which i try to see photos, I think it is great as is. the infrared is doing a sound job here, and love the detail or the bushes along the canal bank. Top shot !

Hi Ric and TCO, thanks for your comments, I'm still trying different techniques with this Infrared stuff, although I know quite a bit about it already - I'm still learning more about how it reacts in different lighting conditions. All good fun .

Hi Barry, Great shot, looking forward to reading your tutorial on Infra Red. I may then try it on a shot that I have of the same barges but taken from the other end

Great infrared image. Barges look so clear and sharp. You've managed to capture the cold feel of the day
