Default Critisism Required

Ok - while everyone is fired up and full of testosterone, I would like some propper feedback for my website.

Admitedly Ive used Clickpic which is not to everyones taste, but hey ho......

I know that there is still a lot of work to do and dont laugh at the prices Ive put (Ive framed some of them already and the general feedback is very encouraging).

If initial impressions are good then please let me know and likewise if you think I'm trying to polish a turd it is also important that people let me know.

I am not a jo-pro and photography is still reltively new to me(not trying to make excuses), but I am generally pleased with some of the results I have obtained in the 18 months that I have owned a camera.

Oh and please feel free to sign the guestbook - I dont like to look like a billy no mates LOL.

Here it is:

Graham Melbourne Photography: Welcome

Thanks

Graham

some 10/10 excellent images on there - site is very easy to get around too. I've left a message re: selling prints.

Hi Graham, I'm not going to be able to crit your website from a what I feel you need to have or from a change standpoint as that wouldn't be fair as you're probably very limited in what you can change on the site using clikpic but in terms of usability, it's very clean and easy to navigate around.

I could locate your images easy, add them to the cart easily and find my way around without too much fuss. The general colour style works too.

I do have two crits though, your introduction on the homepage lists your equipment. I would personally use that space for something such as your aspirations as a photographer or a little more about yourself. Your photographs are absolutely stunning in every way and love your style and creative eye and people don't need to know what you use, the images speak for themselves.

The 2nd crit, when I click on gallery, I feel the list that appears bellow the main navigation need separating from what is above... maybe a slightly different colour maybe as being the same colour makes the main navigation a little cluttered for me but that's only my opinion. I've never used clikpic and I have no ideas of how flexible the site admin pages are to let you change the sites styles.

Overall, a great clean site with beautiful images.

Great work!!

Ey up Graham,

not going to knock Clikpic as i'm with them as well Lol.

Things that stand out to me are as Paul said about the welcome message, also when you click on the gallery the bottom line overlaps the one above (think this because of the amount of galleries) i did exactly the same at first!!! then narrowed it down but my sports and events is still to close to the word GALLERY??? and lastly i think the main title "Graham Melbourne Photography" needs to be bigger (I made one in PS3 and uploaded it) to stand out more???

Regards Steve.

Hi Graham, good clean format and easy to find your way around. Looking at it from a prospective customer point of view, I think I would like to see a few more options in the sizes available with prices, that way if anyone contacts you about a print, they must be serious as they have seen the image and already know the price.

Clean, simple and professional layout with easy to navigate gallery and shopping cart. Agree that you should put something about you as a photographer rather than your gear on the homepage. Be positive about your photography and let folk know what you can offer. Your images are beautiful and show the quality of your photography. Good luck Graham

Hi Graham

I think it's fairly futile to provide feedback for the website as it looks like every other click-pic website, so I'm guessing there's a not a lot you could do if we didn't like it. As it happens, all of click-pic's sites are nice looking, functional and easy to use. Your photos are stunning, and I think the prices are fair, although I wouldn't give up the day job just yet. I know a few photographers who's work is also stunning and they don't make anything from their online galleries. I think click-pic should be seen as a quick and easy off-the-shelf website and nothing more. Any sales should be thought of as a bonus. The toughest thing is bringing people to your site who are likely to want to buy your prints. They are most likely to be tourists visiting the region, so perhaps some form of advertising would help with this.

Andy.
