Nikon D3
Whilst I was in USA, I found a Nikon camera shop, so I had to pop in and have a look. They were selling the new Nikon D3 body only for $3599 which worked out at about £1800. I was very tempted.

I will be going over to the states again next year, but I'm going over to Hong Kong later on this year so maybe I will have another look out there. But at those prices it has got to be worth considering, as they are cheaper than what we would be paying for a secondhand one.

What about the warranty. Canon are pretty funny about where you bought your camera. How are Nikon?

A lot of these places advertise Worldwide warranty, but to be honest modern cameras seem to be very reliable, and if all else fails, there is always the household insurance (Fell off table).

Your safe with a USA warranty with Nikon, it's the Asia imports that have issues.
You should have gone for it! I have difficulty putting into words what a superb camera the D3 is. It's really opened up the photographic possibilities and allows me to capture images that I previously could not or wouldn't attempt.
Hell, that's an awesome price too!! I would have bought two

I would have taken that in a second.
I think it's the other way around with the warranty Paul, the US have thier own part numbers and warranty, the rest is worldwide excluding US.
My D80 is American, doesn't worry me.

Yes, but not until about Christmas time or New year, as we are just in the process of buying some land from a neighbour which is using up all of my spare ££££££'s.
Although the D700 is also looking like a possibility.
