Default Lense advice.

Im considering getting either the Sigma 105-500mm or the 50-500mm and was wondering whether anyone here has one and if so could give me some review on it/them.

Thanks.

Hi Bev, the 50-500mm Sigma Lens is one that I thought about buying, but was put off by so many reviews saying that it was a bit soft at the 500mm end, although I have seem quite a few sharp images with this lens. But instead I went for a 300mm prime lens which always seem to get very good reviews for sharpness. Hopefully I have made the right choice, but have not had much time to test this lens.

I will look forward to hearing other peoples comments on these Sigma long lens.

THanks Barry, yes i have heard the same about the softness at the far end, but like you, i seen some awsome pictures as well, id love to be able to get the 500mm prime but thats out of the question at the moment, the 300mm prime is a superb lense, but i would like a little more reach for the wildlife.

Hi Bev, I have also got a 1.4 teleconverter for this lens which makes it a 420mm f5.6 lens. I'm still playing around at the moment getting used to it, I find that I do need to use a monopod or some sort of support as these longer lens do take some holding steady.

I use the 1.4 TC with the 100-400 but it does slow it down at the 400mm end and the images i find a little soft. Im really interested in the 150-500mm (Sigma) as this one has Image stabilization unlike the 50-500mm, but its new and no one seems to have it at the moment.

Default Fred Miranda Reviews

Hi, I'm pretty new to DSLR so need all the advice I can get, I tend to have at look at this site for reviews on lenses and kit before I even get to the shop to look at it.
