And yet more advice (I spelt it right this time!)
I'm also looking for a decent true macro lens and this time I'm spoilt for choice. Preferably I'd like one around the 90-110mm (35mm) mark though this is subject to quality again. This time I'm looking at the Canon EF-S 60mm (96mm?), the Canon EF 50mm (80mm?), the Sigma 50mm or the Sigma 70mm (112mm?), all f/2.8. Again there are differing opinions in the mags so any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

Maybe we should start a new forum entitled "The Sigma Appreciation Society"
Joking apart this is a resounding thumbs up for Sigma, they're reasonably priced, the EX range are very well built and they offer extremely good performance. You can pick up almost any photography magazine and Sigma are getting top marks or gold awards!!! so they make very good lenses that are obviously highly thought of throughout the photography community....

Agree. I just bought the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 EX DC II HSM - a really nice lens. Cost me £500 but hey! that just a the wife's frock allowance until 2015. Very good lenses, and (Marie)you get a three year warranty in the UK. Canon lenses are just one year. Could save you a lot of money on possible repairs.

I also have the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 which is my standard walkabout lens. My other Sigma is the 70-210mm f2.8 which is a very sharp lens.

Well, one can hope And if they're being generous, as Sigma have had such a positive recommendation, I'm going for Sigma...the 105mm sounds good, though I wouldn't say no to the 70mm (more size I was looking for). So, sigma, I live at......
