Default Polarised filters

hi all, am about to buy some polarised lenses and have been given different info as to which to buy for my camera(olympus E410)lad in shop 1 said needed polarised linear filters and shop 2 tell me polarised circular.Does it really matter? Any advice appreciated.

Hi George,

For the Oly E410 you will need a 'circular' polarizer. 'Circular' is to do with the way it polarizes, not its physical shape.

It sure does make a difference. If your lens is autofocus then you need CIRCULAR. Otherwise linear. If you have different lens sizes it is best (I think) to get a filter holder such as Cokin with different adapter rings for each lens. Then buy just one polarising filter and you can use it on any camera.
