Lens converters

Hi guys Im quite green when it comes to digital photography. i know bits and bobs tho. just got my self Olympus E-410 with double lens kit. the problem i have is that standard lenses are not quick enough (f speed wise). Im currently looking for a good macro lens and telephoto, but the range is not impressive for 3/4 standard and those available are quite expensive for a rookie. the question i have is, is it worth it to try lens converters for different mouns (pentax k mount for example) and what are the advantages and downfalls of using converters?

Hey Robert. Never used lens converters co cant help there. what i can say is research the converters as the one thing i would say, they might not work as effectively as the info generated by the lens given to the camera may be lost. if shot on manual all the time i dont see a problem. i also have not had any epxperience with the Olympus. I did post a thread a while ago asking if anyone use the sigma or 4/3's system but not many replied so poss not many users..good luck anyhow

the trouble with converters is less light gets into the camera so more noise... you up the iso but loose detail and quality, i wouldnt recommend them personally i have in the past used macro filters
but apart from that i cant help im afraid i use the 100mm canon for my macros these days as all my work has to be ready for sale
