Hi Jason, Looks like a nice lens for that money, have a look at this to see what images other people have got with this lens. You should have great fun with this one - look forward to seeing some more images from you in the gallery soon.

Cheers Barry, I've checked out the site and the shots are great , I'll be pleased if I take some as good as these with my lens and camera.

I have the same camera plus the sigma lens you mention, apart from being a little slow, which you already know it is capable of some great shots, although the macro could be a little better, but then the thing itself isnt that expensive, so for the money its great

It's good to hear from you paul, and nice to know I've made a decent buy for the money.
I did try my new lens out yesterday on a walk but as the light was terrible and not brought my tripod with me it didn't perform brilliantly due to the light, no tripod and lens speed, have to wait for better light I expect, It's the longest lens I've had and I guess I'll have to get used to it first to get the best out of it.
Time will tell.

Using the 70-300 APO on my Canon. Bit slow and you get used to the AF noise.
It took some getting used to but wouldn't be without it lol.
Looking forward to the pics.

Hi Roger, thanks for the encouraging comments, I can't wait for the pics either.
I agree, I did notice that the AF was a bit noisy, I'll learn to live with that I guess.
My other Nikon lenses are very quiet.

Hi Jadon, I have also got a Sigma 24-70mm non HSM lens which is a bit noisy when compared to a Nikon lens, but otherwise it works great.

Hiya Barry, I guess it's things like performance and image quality that count and when you're on a limited budget you have to live with niggly little things like the noise, it wont bother me much.
As long as the noise doesn't scare the wildlife away LOL.
Thanks mate.

The noise sounds bad to start with but hardly noticable after a 1,000 or so shot's lol.
If your thinking birds you need to be pretty close.
Some Macro, Robin and Squizzle shot's in my gallery with this lens.

Cheers Roger for that 'sound' advice LOL.
I'll have to get me one of those portable hides to get that close.
