Sony A-700

Does anybody have any experience with this camera? We are thinking of getting one for my Dad for Christmas.
He is Sony mad so I don't want to try to convince him to go Canon or Nikon, he wouldn't be happy. Just want to know if there's any reason I shouldn't get one really.
