They tend to be quite expensive. This one on Ebay is £90. They claim it's suitable for photography. I made my own. I wouldn't get a small one - you need at least A3 to get the camera angles.

A3 LIGHTBOX ideal for Paper Craft LIGHT BOX Photography on eBay, also, Other Film Camera Accessories, Film Camera Accessories, Photography (end time 25-Nov-08 13:34:28 GMT)

Yeh more that sort of thing but i could do with it being wider at the bottom so it can be free standing to shoot upright stuff as well...

They are usually used for viewing Negs and Transpancies but you can lay stuff on them to create silouette pics and stand stuff in front of them for backlighting and also use them AS the lighting (side lighting ETC).

Just fancy having a play with STILL LIFES...

For side lighting and back lighting I have used just normal desk lamps with a sheet of thin A4 white paper in front.

Steve

This is one I posted earlier this year. It shows my lightbox, and gives a few details. The flower shot was taken with the fresia backlit on the lightbox with a flash shot from above. Tricky to get right, but can produce good results. If you want an even light all around your subject then you need a light tent.
