I am considering purchasing one of these camera bodies.

If there are any users out there, could you give me you honest opinions.

I bought one yesterday, but I have to wait for it to come in. I have a few reservations about iso noise in low light - 15mp is a lot of pixels on an APSC sensor. I managed to get a Canon 24-105 L lens second hand in the same shop (Carmarthen) for £599. So all is not bad. And the took my 30D in part-ex.

What do you have at present? From a 350/400/450/30D to 50D is probably a big improvement. Not sure about a 40D to 50D though. It's quite a lot of cash for a body.

Excellent review here on the 50D. A bit technical, but very comprehensive. One of the main points he brings out is that due to the high resolution of the 50D, any distortion cause will be made worse by using cheap lenses. You threrefore need high quality lenses if you want to avoid problems.

I have a 400D at present.

And I'm waiting for delivery of my newly purchased 50D!

That's a nice purchase on the lens!

Regards,

Steve

I just put it on our accurate kitchen scales - 730 grams! I think that is the weight of the 50D. A beautiful lens though. Need a porter to carry it.
