How many Pro photographers are here?

Photography is just a hobby to me, although some people for some reason have given me money for some of my prints, I have no intention of making money at it only spending money on it. But I enjoy my day job.

Hi Genese

Can identify with the 10yrs in the NHS, my wife is a sister (or grade 6 as they are now) on an acute ward. I think i have had a tough time at work and then i collect her from work and one look at here and i feel good!!! (not good photographic material shall we say)

Its all targets, initiatives, computers, funding, meetings e.t.c Oh and if you have a minute there is a patient there who needs a bit of care, but make sure you ask them if they want to fill a complaint form in!!

Me being Cynical i suppose, but life's not too bad overall!!

Nowt to do with Pictures but i am sure being a pro photographer would be very attractive to my wife as well.

Well my day job pays me nicely at the moment and haven't had too many thoughts at taking that plunge into the unknown. Also I love photography and wouldn't want it spoilt by the pressure of getting work and paying bills etc, the passion may go, at the moment I am just enjoying learning more and more of this new art (new to me).

it not so much it spoils photography for you ... it changes it! i now take pictures from a selling point of view which i guess is the same as taking a photo to technical perfection!
the whole thing is mad really as most of the requests i get are for average shots for education books, the thing is as long as you are shooting in RAW and saving as TIFF you can sell your images on agency sites... its worth it when you sell something and buy new equipment from the sales!
the latest request i uploaded to was "panorama of a beach" of which i have loads the price was £800 paid for the right image
they are using the photo for wall paper for a hospital which is a honor for the chosen photographer
